50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE INDEPENDENCE OF KENYA - THE LAND THAT HAS GIVEN SO MUCH TO HUMANITY.

In the year 1963 Kenya received its independence from the British. The day was December 12, 1963.

This year Kenya celebrates its 50th anniversary.

I am proud to have been born in Nairobi, Kenya.

Kenya the land of the Mau Mau - for those that do not know about that movement - read about it - and learn well - that to struggle is not easy.

Even as we all celebrate the great things and the legacy of Nelson Mandela - who achieved  much in his life time. We must acknowledge the great Kenyan leaders like Jomo Kenyatta, Tom Mboya and others.

Here are the words of the National Anthem of Kenya in English:

Oh God of all creation
Bless this our land and nation
Justice be our shield and defender
May we dwell in unity
Peace and liberty
Plenty within our borders

Let one and all arise
With hearts both strong and true
Service be our earnest endeavour
And our homeland of Kenya
Heritage of splendour
Firm may we stand to defend

Let all with one accord
In common bond unite
Build the glory of Kenya
The fruit of our labour
Fill every heart with thansgiving

  1. Are there any events going on in SF Francisco? I would love to do something this week in commemoration.
