THE INCARCERATION OF U.S. CITIZENS DURING WORLD WAR II - 120,000 INCARCERATED - IN THE NAME OF NATIONAL SECURITY - CHECK OUT - EXCLUSION - AN EXHIBIT AT THE PRESIDIO OF SAN FRANCISCO - BUILDING 100.

These camps held U.S. citizens of Japanese origin -
all over the Nation -
we who comprehend what freedom means -
must be vigilant at all times.

We are living in very " dangerous time " - we have a President today who has openly defied norms, issues Executive Orders - without a Blue Print - reminiscent of the " incarceration of U.S. citizens of Japanese origins - during World War II.

Over 120,000 U.S. citizens of Japanese origins - were incarcerated all over our Nation - in camps - and treated with disdain. Among them many innocent children - today grown up -  but still endure the trials and tribulation -  meted to the United States Japanese citizens - who committed NO crime.

Before being shipped to the camps - these U.S. citizens of Japanese origins were forced to leave their homes - take little as directed by those that carried out the orders. We are a Nation of law - fair play and justice - and all that and more - was thrown to the wind.

Some of us know about this dark history, others do not - but there are some who will not believe a word of these dark times - and as I said - we are living in difficult times - with a monster in the White House - today. We  must be vigilant.

I worked at the Presidio of San Francisco - 75 years ago - General John L. DeWitt issued Civilian Exclusion Orders - from Building 35 at the Presidio of San Francisco - now a school.

An Executive Order - that has left a sordid scar - on our  Nation's history and more that pertaining to United States citizens - then and now  - never mind the origin of their ethnicity - in this case Japanese.

This U.S. Japanese family as did other families -
were innocent - yet their were incarcerated -
and we  must ask ourselves - why ?
In doing so - we must also ask who committed these crimes -
and more - can this happen again ?

Innocent Japanese citizens -
crowded in encampments - that defy logic -
more justice and fair play -
can this happen today?

There is an exhibition held at the San Francisco Presidio of San Francisco - at Building 100 that once housed the Sixth U.S. Army and Presidio of San Francisco - Army Band.

The exhibition titled " Exclusion - The Presidio's role in World War ii - Japanese American Incarceration ". Visit the exhibition if you can - it gives you a glimpse - but there is more to the story - and to those that with intent perpetuated the crimes on innocent United States citizens of Japanese origin.

Building 100 is part of the 100 series red brick buildings - built by the Buffalo Soldiers - the 9th and 10th Calvary - the 24th and 25th Infantry Regiment.

The Buffalo Soldiers were all Black - and they sympathized with the U.S. Japanese soldiers - many volunteer while in the camps - to serve this Nation in spite of all the atrocities committed in the camps - and the women and men of Japanese origin - more, United States citizens.

The Buffalo Soldiers have NOT been honored with any significant monument at the Presidio of San Francisco - even though - we have millions of dollars of worth of memorabilia, artifacts, document - and other museum pieces.

We have yet to hear from the SF Presidio Trust - who seem keen to hear - and then there is NO movement - towards establishing a Museum honoring the Buffalo Soldiers.

The U.S. Japanese soldiers many who volunteered even though they were incarcerated in these horrible encampments - the 18,000  plus who served in the 442nd Regiment Combat Team - connected to three stellar Infantry Regiments - well know for their military prowess.

The 552nd Field Artillery Battalion, the over 6000 - United States Japanese citizens who contributed so much to the Military Intelligence Services (MIS).

Those many who worked in the Women's Army Corps - not forgetting the 800 U.S. Japanese soldiers who laid their lives in the service of this Nation during World War II.

It was my singular privilege to meet the many U.S. Japanese soldiers - shake their hand - look them in the eye and express my thanks and love for serving our Nation.

At the SF Presidio of San Francisco we had the Defense Language Institute - classes held in an abandoned hanger at Crissy Field - November 1, 1941 - four instructors and 60 students - getting well versed in the Japanese language.

This history is known to a few - but more light has to shed on the many actions - that helped our Nation during World War II.

Check this website for general information that gives the reader deeper information on this subject :

The 442nd Regiment Combat Team
who fought in Europe and were feared
by the Nazis  - loved by Europeans who were
liberated - and remembered to this day.

The ferocious and famous 442nd Regiment Combat Battalion.

Innocent U.S. Japanese citizens -
crowded in encampment - treated with disdain -
this right has NOT been righted throughly -
a dark cloud hovers - until this day and will unless -
the entire matter is taught in our schools, colleges,
our universities - light shed where there is abject darkness.

Here is a U.S. soldier - as sometimes happens -
a ray of hope - when all around one witnesses -
despair - the children wondering what is happening?

Scenes such as these - shocked some -
but most biased, and favoring racism -
went with the flow - propaganda fueling the hate climate -
nothing much has changed - we have to be vigilant.

Reminiscent of the Jews and the Holocaust in Europe -
the incarceration of the United States Japanese citizens -
many incarcerated for NO reason worth the salt -
our Nation shamed itself and the Constitution -
the many principles we hold to be true -
but few spoke Truth to Power -
we must be vigilant - more now than ever before.
