Joseph Taeotui (Jungle )
42 years old - and fighting the good fight -
to stay - alive - our prayers are with him -
and his loving family.
When tragedy strikes home - Polynesian - here in San Francisco and the extended Bay Area - gather together in unison - with Love. Hope, doing what we do best - we stand shoulder to shoulder - warrior women and men - to support the family and more the person that needs help - in this case Joseph Taeotui (Jungle).
We are indigenous people and indigenous people enjoy a special status in San Francisco.
I represent the First People of San Francisco - the Muwekma Ohlone - and you all Polynesians are welcome and share our blessings. Aho.
Joseph Taeotui who is 42 years old and became a father a few years ago - his wife Mollie - his family - his loved ones - his supporters all rejoiced - when we all heard the good news - the birth of his lovely daughter.
I had the unique opportunity to speak to Joseph Taeotui - we affectionately call him - " Jungle " - one week before the unfortunate incident - he was ambushed and shot in the face.
When such an incident happens - there is NO protocol - in place - as we have in some of our better organizations - who have the resources and the funding to provide the service and amenities needed - to those that unfortunately are the victim.
The SF City and County has a budget of $11 billion - and over $500 million which is spent on supposedly Violence Prevention - with little or no accountability.
The SF Health Department in now - dipping heavily into Violence Prevention funds - without a vetted Blue Print.
All sorts of outsourcing and so called experts - dipping into Violence Prevention funds - while we the tax payers - are left holding an empty bag.
So some of us - without much fanfare - had to come to the support of the family. I must say together we have done very well - however, even as we are on our sixth day - the incident happened on August 13, 2018 - we must be very - vigilant.
Joseph Taeotui lies at the San Francisco General Hospital - the Trauma Center - one of the best in the world.
With doctors who have qualified and astute experience - have done the best they could - to help Joseph Taeotui - from totally succumbing to the five shots he received - one in his face.
Seriously speaking this is a miracle - the bullet still lodged in his head - his scalp operated upon - to release the pressure and help reduce swelling to his brain.
At this time we must have HOPE and even as we have HOPE - we must REPRESENT - we must HONOR the good works of our Warrior and Peacemaker - Joseph Taeotui - my very good friend - a Brother. Pray to God - and hope for a miracle - that Joseph Taeoti - is restored to good health.

At this time I want to thank each and every one of you - who came to Joseph Taeotui support - we must maintain our dignity.
Do all in our power - to represent the values " Jungle " stood for - mild mannered, a man of few words, aways seeking those paths of peace and bringing people together.
All of San Francisco loves him - and now more all over the world.
At this time - we must stay positive - and negate those thoughts and actions - that adversely impact any situation or cause - linked to this case.
This is personal to most of us - the better interests that we represent to honor Joseph Taeotui ( Jungle ) matter - and paramount to the legacy of Jungle. God bless you all for your patience and more sound leadership.
We can do better - even as all of you have made us so proud - your stellar unity, love, and supporting the family, the loved ones, and those that have spent hours - supporting the family - round the clock - at the hospital. God bless you all.
This is a marathon - and so we must pace ourselves - pray - for spirituality which is important to us - and more good actions - Talofa .
Unity, love, good actions - are important - blessing have already been bestowed on us all.
We have managed to keep our " cool " - as I said we must honor our Brother Joseph Taeotui - and so far - those that want to provoke us - are in utter shock.
They did not expect such a united front - and are totally confounded by the out pouring of love and stellar unity by the community at large.
We will NOT join those that do evil - and follow the devil.
God loves us all - and in this case we are teaching those that talk the talk and have failed to walk the walk - more, what true cultural competency is all about and more.
The Polynesian culture is deep - so deep that is takes decades - for those that want instant gratification - to comprehend - the beauty of goodness, love, and most of all good actions. Talofa.
When such tragedy strikes - our SF City and County for all their talk - is paralyzed - and most of this stems from " fear ".
The SF Police Department issued a bulletin that Joseph Taeotui had expired - well he is still alive - and the SF Police Department has NOT had the decency to issue an apology.
A meeting was held to discuss about Joseph Taeotui - with NO one from the family present - I was and had to speak up. Well, those that are supposed to protect us - have failed miserably. We must protect ourselves - and that is why it is critical - we be vigilant and keep those that have ulterior motives at bay.
This is my blog and I speak Truth to Power - I am not afraid of the crooks and the corrupt - what is happening today in Room 200 at City Hall - is corrupt - saturated corruption - all this in the City named after Saint Francis of Assisi.
Polynesians know no fear - because they can handle any situation - and as we have proved in this case - taken control of the situation at hand.
We have shamed those that wanted this incident to flare up - create division in the SF community at large.
We will get the bottom of the situation at hand - we believe in God and good actions.
However - we also speak Truth to Power and know well - Truth will always win.
This is a marathon - and as each day goes by - we must support the family of Joseph Taeotui (Jungle).
It has been my privilege to know many of his family members - I love them all - and pledge to do my best to support the family - especially from those that have ulterior motives.
When we speak about the situation at hand - we must be positive.
I have said - that Joseph Taeotui had survived for so many days - which is a miracle.
None of us are doctors - less know the details of the " brain " as far as I know for sure we have no neurosurgeons in our midst.
So, you who think - you know more - but, really know less - must realize your empty words.
Stop - creating confusion and I will say no more.
There are some that simply like their two minutes of fake fame.
In this particular case - it is NOT business as usual - and some of you have no knowledge of de-escalation, and less about protocol and still less about accountability and full transparency.
Let us keep it at that - before at the appropriate time I spell it out - in detail and in writing. You who are behind the scenes creating confusion - are put on notice.
If you do not know the true status - more, without consulting the doctor - who is the knowledgable - keep quiet.
You may have noticed - unlike those that love money and greed - work for the POPOS - we pray, we sacrifice without much fanfare.
We love God, we believe in loving one another.
We will represent and leave a legacy that honors our Brother - Joseph Taeotui.
We believe in miracles and we have already got a miracle - and must honor God.
Blessing us all to care and share - more, what enjoins us all - we are warrior women and men of faith and God loves us all and our families who love us and make so many sacrifices.
To you warrior men and women - who have rallied and been so caring - God loves you all - and together we must stand united and sacrifice - as we handle this marathon to the end.
We all must speak Truth to Power - we have God in our heart - our heart is in the right place - we can and will go to a better place. Aho.
