THE LARGEST FIRES EVER TO HIT NORTHERN CALIFORNIA - HAVE BROUGHT REALITY TO THE FORE - THOUSANDS OF HOMES BUILT - DAMAGED, OTHERS INCINERATED - LARGE TRACTS OF LAND - COVERED WITH ASH - SOME A FOOT DEEP.

The largest fires - covering thousands of acres - have hit Northern California - and while here in San Francisco - the haze, the smell of smoke, mixed with the fog has just begun to affect us - those victims - closer to the fire - more those that have lost everything they owned - are going through - HELL.

In San Francisco for the second day - it is - " Spare the Air Day " - the quality of air is not so bad here in San Francisco.

It may be because of the " fog " - and also because of the colder Pacific Ocean - that could play some role - in making us breathe easier.

California Department of Corrections

Our thanks to the women and men
from the California Department of Corrections

Kudos to the California Department of Correction - who are on the frontlines and doing a great job.

These women and men - are trained well - and often used when there is an urgency - and more when those that fight fires - are no where to be found.

These firefighters from the California Department of Correction number about 4000 and make up 30% of the entire firefighting force in California.

Few of us know about this and more the magnitude of their contribution - to fighting fires - saving lives, homes, life stock, and a host of other things - that all could be incinerated.

The paradox is that these men and women are paid just one dollar ($ 1) - that does not deter these men and women who have their heart - in the right place.

Many of these firefighters - incarcerated -  but proving again and again they can contribute to Society - by putting their live on the line.

For the contributions to fighting these fires - they are given a reduced sentence - however, there is something in these facts - and the way the reduction of their sentence is addressed - that cries to heaven for justice.

This blog has taken the time to acknowledge those incarcerated so that the world knows - that here in the United States we register a full 10% of our population - having spent some time in jail.

Our total population 340 million people - those that face jail sentences - unfortunately - are more people of color.

The United States - once know at Turtle Island - has an area of 3,717,812.8  square miles.

It is easy for us to read what the Main Media - says - but there is more to the story - when it comes to these fires and other emergencies - when those incarcerated - more women and men of color are put in harm way.

The story of those incarcerated who have taken upon themselves - to put themselves in harm way - more, to save lives, property, life stock - to address the " situation " at hand - again and again at very short, notice - these women and men - must be commended for serving their Nation.

It is now left to our politicians - from Sacramento - to take a second look at the " situation " - and better the lives of those who are incarcerated - make available skills that when these women and men are released - can permit them to get career job.

Some opportunities are provided in our California jails - better opportunity to the Correctional Officers - who get things on a platter. The California Correction Officers - spend millions - filling the campaign coffers of the politicians.

More can surely be done to make up - for the decades of disdain shown to those incarcerated.

After all they all come from families that we know - people make mistakes - and some are given the sentence due them - but more are incarcerated because they have No one to represent them.

The innocent are discriminated - because of the color to their skin - many innocent people sent to jail - for no reason - what so ever. I know this for a fact - having visited too many jails - and met too many incarcerated - once they were released - with no skills and more no rap around services - offered after the release. There is a God.

Then you have the issues of " Bail Bonds " - this one issue is as convoluted as the issue is - people preying - on those that are in trouble - the failed justice system - and some entities raking in millions - preying as I said on those that have NO money to bail out.

The "Geronimo Hotspots " one of seven
elite firefighting teams in the United States
the all hail from Yosemite.

Most of us may not have heard about our Native American firefighting teams - both men and women - some of the best firefighting teams in the United States.

The Main Media will not mention them - nor do most people know too much about these " one of kind firefighting teams ".

Stellar firefighting teams - who not only know - how to fight the fires - but more have a deep understanding - of what starts fires - as they are so close and respect Mother Earth.

They are all proud -  fighting for their Nation.

The question to be asked - is their Nation - proud of them ?

Can we offer them the best equipment and tools to those that need it to better - the opportunities to fight fires? Can be offer better communication system to further sound coordination?
Can provide them maps -  more from drones - to better understand logistics?

Can we just appreciate their work all these many years? I know many are brought in as temporary firefighters - seasonal workers - this is not the way to treated the situation at hand.

After all they understand " Nature " - better than most - because for the simple fact they love Mother Earth.

Those at Yosemite today - the National Park Service has an opportunity to review and make a sound assessment - of the situation at hand.

STOP the discrimination - after all - the land all of it was - stolen and is Native American land. We fondly call it the National Parks - established in 1916 before that they were called the Federal lands - and before that Turtle Island - called the name for over 15,000 years.

firefighting team - all Native Americans -
women and men - they are well known at times -
when their expertise - is needed and provided
in humility - they love Mother Earth.
