When the " Big One " strikes -
the skyline will change -
the taller buildings will reduce in height -
Mother Earth will speak loud and clear.
The " Big One " is the impending earthquake we are expecting.
The Big One - is long due - and yet our Mayor London Breed is not prepared - and more the Office of Emergency Management - talking in circles - those in charge - having absolutely NO - experience. Waiting for Godot.
When the Big One hit us in 1906 - the Sixth U.S. Army located at the Presidio of San Francisco - was there to address the situation at hand.
Dynamiting entire block to create a barrier - and STOP the fire - but that barrier and other means used - did not STOP the fire from having its way.
They say more damage was caused by the fire - than the earthquake.
In 1906 we did not have sufficient water for sure.
This one singular fact led Congressmen from San Francisco - to create a bill the Raker Act - to garner the water from the Hetch Hetchy Dam - tap into the Tuolumne River - that belongs to the Native Americans.
Tapping into the Tuolumne River - has adverse impact the Salmon - using water in access to meet the needs of San Franciscans - some 160 miles away.
On a side note of importance - we bring clean water all the way from Hetch Hetchy - and use to flush our toilets.
There is NO guilt - that grey water could flush our toilets - but those in charge - drowning in the cesspool of there own creation - having no common sense - which is a rare sense - continue to act as if know better.
In 1989 after a deep assessment was made - we found the City and County ill-prepared. After all those years - we still are - and that is a crying shame.
The Marina where the filthy lived - suffered the worst adverse impacts.
Liquefaction affected the entire Marina - and brought five story building - down crushing - liquefaction - reducing them to two stories.
There were umpteen fires - more, from the gas lines - and we had NO water - lucky for us we had a Fire Boat - that parked itself off the Marina Bay - and water was pumped - to put out the fires.
It took us months to assess the damage - and we found out then as we do now - the Sunset would be prone to some serious losses - if another Big One hit us - which as I have been saying - in knocking at the door.
Quakes will impact -
our freeways - as we saw before.
These agencies see no benefit having a working Blue Print - complete with wells, hydrants, cisterns, large water tanks - and flex pipes in place - to replace the 90 year plus clean drink water pipes and sewer pipes - that cannot withstand - a 9.0 earthquake on the Richter Scale.
As we all know we have 11 Districts in San Francisco - each with a Supervisor - and 10 Precincts - each with a Captain - as things stand - these Captains and the Supervisors have NOT met as a group - to assess the situation at hand - and more have a viable and sustainable Blue Print - that has been vetted.
More - to understand the baseline requirement to address the Big One - triage centers, other First Responders and trained volunteers.
Some from the NERT program that continuously trains many from our neighborhood - teaching them the basics.
Registered Nurses and Doctors - ready to address the situation at hand - at ground zero - which are our neighborhoods.
Our Districts and Precincts - ready when the sirens - sound the alarm. That is if they work?
Every District should be divided with Quadrants - each ready and equipped - complete with Standard Operating Procedures.
Entities like the Army already have the plans and will be willing to share.
Each District should have at least 20 quadrants - to handle the population - of about 840,000.
There should be backup personnel - in case the Big One hits us during day time - an Action Plan - for such a scenario.
Our day population on days when there are Conventions, Games, Large Concerts can increase our day population to one and half million. We must be prepared and all this and more takes time - those in charge - are fast asleep at the cockpit.
Our Mayor London Breed has no clue about Emergency Services - and in the year 2019 - our communication equipment is not up to par.
Communication is paramount - for all the talk - about texting, and other primitive methods - our communication system and services - should be tested again and again - and updated to the latest standard - in par with the latest technology.
Our Mayor London Breed for some strange reason is focused on having Summits titled " Invincible ". Encouraging dikes and women who claim then that they can do everything themselves- to hell with men.
Let me tell you - when there is an emergency - both men and women trained - to be First Responders - have to work hard -
there is no time - for divisiveness.
As things stand today - more men than women are trained as First Responders.
We have more women Registered Nurses - and more men Doctors - so you see - we need both women and men - in a situation where "triage aid " is needed - and this is no time - for " divisiveness ".
We need both women and men - to give their best - to support the community at large. Time will tell.
The recent report by the San Francisco Grand Jury has pinpointed the areas that need high pressure hydrants and water - to put out raging fires - in an Earthquake - the fires will be there for all the world to see - and we must be prepared.
The Big One is knocking at our door - and most of us - are told to store water, food, flash lights, and other stuff like that and that is good.
We must be prepared for other unforeseen scenarios - what happens - if all contents - are covered with dirt and heavy material - roofs collapsing, and brick and concrete - brought down by the Big One - covering large areas.
Right now we have no heavy equipment - stored in safe places - to move heavy objects - fallen trees, large chunk of concrete - other materials - that impede access to areas - to work, move, and create and best services - using logistics and Blue Prints that have been vetted.
Our SF Broad of Supervisors - love to wag their tongue - that tongue that has NO bone.
When it come to the people who pay their taxes - at Public Comment - we are given a measly two minutes.
This one act - speaks volumes - our SF Board of Supervisors - are not educated on issues.
Most of them are arrogant and ignorant - that is why most sensible citizens and tax payers - avoid them like the plague.
The Big One is coming - and we must prepare ourselves on a War Footing.
Skyscrapers will come tumbling down and there will be more.
If we experience something to the order of 9.5 on the Richter Scale - thousand of homes in the Sunset - will collapse - the foundations built on sand dunes - homes prone to - liquefaction.
Water is critical - and our reservoirs will crack - be it that they may not break open and flood areas.
What is important to note - we have 1200 miles of clean drinking water pipes - and over 1000 miles of sewer pipes. Most of them over 90 years old.
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission has been hoodwinking us - that the pipes - will be replaced with new pipes - less than 10% have been replaced.

we must constantly ask ourselves -
are we fully prepared - for the Big One ?
Not even the brand new pipes can withstand a 9.0 earth quake as registered on the Richter Scale - more pipes made of mild steel.
Flex pipes can withstand an earthquake - and have been installed in certain areas - the pipes leading to our hospitals - and encouraged to use flex pipes.
When we have the Big One - with a large Richter Scale movement - most of the clean drink water pipes - and for sure the sewer pipes - over 90 years - will be compromised.
No one can Fool - all the people - all the time - time to gather your wits - and get back on the drawing table - complete with goals and timelines - and all this must be done on a War Footing - 5 years at the most to complete the job.
We have politicians pussyfooting around - and there is no one to challenge them.
When the Big One strikes - most of these politicians will be leaking their chops.
They will shun from the public - if it does happen - those responsible - will be taken to task - and the picture will NOT be pretty.
