Africa is the home of humankind. Climate change has created the longest drought - four years of drought - thousands have died - and millions more will - if nothing is done on a war footing.
Today the Horn of Africa countries that we hear about, such as Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, and Kenya, are experiencing their fourth year of drought.
Hand in hand with the drought - we have warring tribes - the Russians vying for gold, the Chinese for oil, others causing confusion so that the tribal lords - can make money - those poor who cannot defend themselves - are created like chattel.
Most tribal folks have goats and cattle and have, for thousands of years - moved from place to place to care for the cattle, the goats, and the camels.
For hundreds of years - these animals have been cared for - the droughts came and went - there were also wells and waterholes - that came to the rescue of those who survived.
The women work hard - and in this drought - there is no food - drinking water is scarce. The infants and children that survive mostly die - remind most of the slow death.
Slowly but surely, if no help comes, these humans - who have lived in the region for thousands of years - will close their eyes and make peace with the creator.
I know this region - as I was born in Nairobi, Kenya - in years gone by, there were droughts - this current drought has lingered for four years - and if it drags into the fifth year - millions will die.
