There was a protocol established - to have a Town Hall meeting - sooner after a shooting more a killing in San Francisco.
This protocol has NOT been followed in a standard manner - Town Meetings have been called hastily and in many cases the families NOT informed.
On August 16, 2018 a meeting was held at the Bayview Police Station - 201 Williams Street in San Francisco.
The title of News Release - stated:
" San Francisco Police Investigators Seek the Public's Assistance in Solving Bayview Shooting. "
" On Monday, August 13, 2018 at approximately 12:17 pm, San Francisco police officers from Bayview Station responded to a shooting on the 100 block of Kiska Road. On August 13, 2018 a couple of hours after Joe Taeotui was shot - I was outside SF General Hospital - some folks had just been near the Emergency Room - the doctors and emergency nurses - were working on Joe Taeotui. I was told that he was shot in the face.
At the same time several people receive text messages that Joe Taeotui had expired - this bulletin was sent by the San Francisco Police Department.
I know that there is a protocol - and in this case that protocol was not followed. Next of kin has to be informed, at the least the SF General Hospital should have been consulted - none of this happened and there is more.
Given this unique situation - hundreds of Polynesians gathered outside the hospital and several hundreds more - intent on finding out what really was happening - to our beloved Joseph Taeotui.
We all were shocked by the contents of this San Francisco Police Department " bulletin " - which failed to followed protocol and could have triggered a situation - that we on the ground had under control.
I have brought this matter to the attention of Chief Scott Williams and have yet to hear from him.
I copied my email to those heads of SF City Departments and others that I felt needed to know about this singular un called action - and what the serious repercussion - could have led to.
At the meeting held on August 16, 2018 at the Bayviw Police Station - remarks were made that this incident would lead to violence between the Polynesians and Blacks.
If this was the case - it would have happened on August 13, 2018.
God alone knows why this has not happened and the many who put their minds together to void such an incident.
One reason that all had foremost on their mind - Joe Taeotui was a warrior and more a stellar - " peace maker ".
His family, friends, supporters would like Joe Taeotui to be remembered as a " peace maker " .
That would best suit his demeanor and more live a legacy as a - " peace maker ".
At this meeting held at Bayview Police Station - held at 201 Williams Street - a Senior woman Police official - encouraged the public to bring to the attention of the SF Police Department - more the Investigation Bureau - any information - about this ambush in broad daylight.
This incident happened - a few hundred feet from a sub-station that is part of the Boys and Girls Club.
For sure there are cameras - that could have captured this violent incident.
It does not behove the SF Police Department to send out an official bulletin - that a victim is dead - when we all knew he was alive and fighting for his life.
This singular bulletin could have ignited the community to violence - and the San Francisco Police Department must not make light of this incident and uncalled action.
Barbara Garcia who is the Director of the SF Health Department and Chief Scott Williams - must review protocol - when it comes to similar incidents.
Today is the 8th day - and we have NOT heard much - even though the SF Police Department - brags and thinks it is on top of this case.
I know Chief Scott Williams visited SF General Hospital days after the incident with Malia Cohen who is the District Supervisor - I really do not know what they gathered from this visit and hope they show some empathy and compassion.
So far both of them have not show resolve to solve the case - and less Mayor London Breed - who is busy harassing the poor people - always targeting folks that cannot - defend themselves. Time will tell.
Let me remind all - this is my own blog - and my views do not represent that of no one else - but myself - Francisco Da Costa.
Joe Taeotui and his wife Mollie - have a young girl - who will NOT have her father.
We all who love Joseph Taeotui - are shocked - and have kept our cool - we have witnessed - actions that are not becoming to put it lightly.
Wake up San Francisco - Room 200 - and those that purport that they are protecting us - but the opposite seems to be the case.
Can Chief Scott Williams send me something in writing - about the progress of this case - linked to Joseph Taeotui or should I hire an attorney and ask the information under the Freedom of Information Act ?
We know each other - the Chief and I - and we agree that the community has to be served - and that includes the Polynesian community as far as I am concerned.
