Kudos to the Yoruk and Karuk Tribes from Northern California - known for their fortitude and tenacity.
The Yoruk and Karuk Tribes took the United States Government to Court - and mandated that the four dams that took a toll on their lives and sanity - the death of thousands of Salmon - the barriers be brought down - and the Salmon set free to spawn and flourish.
It helped that Warren Buffet sponsored the movement - and the Governors from Oregon and California - cooperated - on this vital issue - linked to the endangered salmon and are - now a National Park.
We acknowledge the Chairman of the Yurok - Joseph L. James, and the Chairman of the Karuk - Russell " Buster" Attebery.
I thank the thousands of supporters - who know what it means - to respect and honor Mother Earth.
I have read and heard about your hard work and sacrifice - and thank you on behalf of the Salmon - I often say when I speak of the situations - " who will speak on behalf of the Salmon? ".
The indigenous tribes have lived for over 23,000 years here in Northern California.
Some two hundred and fifty years ago - the strangers stole the land, raped the women, and killed infants and children.
To this day, neither the Governor of California nor the Sacramento representatives have apologized to the Yoruk and Karuk tribes in a meaningful manner - with restitution and deep healing.
Until 1927 edicts went out from the Governors of California - the strangers could kill any indigenous person and fetch a measly five dollars.
Over time, the strangers stole, killed, and dammed the rivers - including the majestic Klamath River - to generate electricity - fell the old-growth redwoods - and destroyed all that was pristine and good for thousands of years.
In 2002 thousands of Salmon lay dead on the banks of the Klamath River - it shocked those with empathy - but those whose heart is made of stone - not a whimper.
It is estimated between 35,000 and 70,000 perished - in the year 2002. We read about it - but seeing is believing - and to this day - those of us that love the Salmon - remember those fateful events.
Hundreds of miles will lay free for the Salmon to swim and spawn - the four dams will come down - and those who have been very patient and persistent - have had their day in Court and won. Kudos.
The Great Majestic Klamath - will soon be seen in its once-original form - the Great Spirit sees it all.

We must never forget to take care of the land and the surrounding. Take little and keep more for future generations.
Here in San Francisco, we live in a concrete jungle - it is here where those who have no heart - try to hoodwink us in broad daylight - we take them on- and we speak on behalf of the salmon.
