San Francisco's Laguna Honda -

For the last twenty five years - from the days Mitch Katz was the Director of SF General Hospital and earlier - then came Barbara Gracia - and recent we have had a change in " leadership " - Director Grant Colfax - and suddenly - what we knew for the last 25 years - has come out as some sort of " sudden revelation ".
For the longest time - we advocates found out - decision made by the authorities - without having a hearing with the public at large.
First came - a decision where those with " drug issues " - where sent to Laguna Honda for some sort of rehabilitation - never mind if these " drug addict " were over 55 years - or whatever the age determined was at the time. We quickly found these " drug addicts in rehabilitation " prey on the Elderly - those that could not defend themselves.
What happened those fragile Elders - who were sent to Laguna Honda to have some respite - some succor - some peace of mind - they were harassed by the " drug addicts in rehabilitation ".
Much as we brought this to the attention of the authorities, articles, and even before the SF Health Commission - we got NO response.

Mitch Katz came and went, then came the firing of Barbara Gracia, and now we have a new Director - Dr. Grant Colfax who is catching up with - years of nonsense - that he has to undo - and talks the talk - but can he really walk the walk.
The paradox is that many doctors and other medical staff within the SF General Hospital system - and the SF Health Department - knew what was happening - and looked the other way.
What is important to note and should not be tolerated the pharmacy at Laguna Honda - prescribing wrong medication and at other times depriving the elderly from receiving their medication.
This fact was discussed at previous meetings at the SF Health Commission - the Commissioners heard us - but truly did not follow up - even though they promises superficially they would do so.

this hospital and place of healing -
has long been treated with utmost respect -
more to serve our Elders - in their golden years.
Two senior staff members from Laguna Honda was resigned - six other employees fired - and they say 23 patients - were adversely impacted.
In reality the entire system at Laguna Honda has to be revamped. A senior doctor sued Laguna Honda and won his case.
Advocates and some nurses joined us at the SF Health Commission meeting when Barbara Gracia was the Director of Health - Barbara Garcia and the SF Health Commissioners would listen to us - and failed to take serious measures.
Again and again those those that cannot defend themselves - those Elders who must be treated with respect - have been treated with disdain.
Mayor London Breed's statement are " hog wash " - she has not seriously taken care of our Elders - those many lingering in the tents - homeless.
The many Elders - in the Recreation Vehicles - forced to move from place to place - the few sites - that catered to the RVs - one near Candlestick Point - closed - and RVs force to move out and fend for themselves.
Laguna Honda was funded initially by San Franciscans - and even today those who know the history - send donations - and so we know - who cares and who does not.
Our SF Board of Supervisors have been fast asleep at the cockpit. There is more to the Laguna Honda factual sheet - that has NOT been adjudicated.
Millions were wasted in the building of Laguna Honda - then we had drastic changes made - keep the public out - and some doctors and nurse who spoke up - were retaliated against. This nonsense must STOP.
You have just to review the many meetings we attended - begging the SF Health Commissioners to deal with the on going atrocities at Laguna Honda, at SF General Hospital, the list is long - and Mayor London Breed is busy cutting ribbons and patting her fat heifer - behind.
In the year 2019 - the software that is used within the system - to keep track of relevant and pertinent information - tracking the patients - is not in sync.
Some new software will now replace the antiquated software - all this in 2019 - when we could have done this - a long time ago. Even the new hospital at SF General Hospital - can go only so far - when the doctor or nurses want to track a patient.
At Laguna Honda - has we in place - the latest software - we could have traced the " rogue employees " - the utter nonsense going on at the Pharmacy at Laguna Honda - and there is more.
No mention has been made of patients intimidated, things stolen from the patients, money set aside for the patients to celebrate their birthday - spent by the staff.
This nonsense has been going on in gusto - for the last 25 years - and as many Seniors reach their golden years - they have heard and some have experienced - how they are treated with disdain.
Recently I was able to spend some days - on the 7th Floor at SF General Hospital and Trauma Center - the new wing.
I had the opportunity - to be with a patient - near, and dear to me - spend time and interact with the Registered Nurses.
Spend an inordinate time waiting - while tests where done - decisions made - to get a bed and bring hope where traumatic circumstances - take a heavy toll - more stress.
I was glad that at last a bed was found - I had the opportunity to play a key role - and that the patient - recovered - even in the midst of " of a triage situation ".
Doctors rushing, an X-ray machine brought to the room - other equipment - state of the art used - to stabilize the patient - you learn a lot - and can compare to other hospitals that do not have the state of the art - equipment.
I interacted with the doctors - who were willing to explain to me - what circumstance took for a worse turn - and now quickly contemporary medicine and know how - can stabiles the patient.
Believe me - at Laguna Honda - the patients get some quick response but lack the sound equipment - what we call " state of the art ".
I took the opportunity when asked to address the Residential Doctor, the Intern Doctor from University San Francisco, the expert doctor - accompanying the Interns.
The interns visit the patients and learn from the various cases - they study and learn more - from the patients on the 7th Floor at SF General Hospital that caters to the Seniors.
The interns visit the other floors - and all this and more helps to improve the conditions - and get real feed back. All this in mission at Laguna Honda.
Laguna Honda in recent years - has poor leadership.
The two senior staff that have resigned - and the other senior staff members - that are there in the shadow - must step down too - the have been soiled and done injustice to those that deserved better.
I have medicare and belong to Health Maintenance Organization - named Kaiser - I could gauge for myself - the services offered at Kaiser and those offered at SF General Hospital.
From time to time the issue comes up - about Charity Care - linked more to our Elders - and I have been involved - and that picture is not too pretty.
We have seen what is happening with Saint Luke that has served the Bayview Hunters Point and to day - that entire floor that catered to who are mentally challenged - is no more.
It is the same with those suffering from " acute respiratory disease and who are our Elders - more those over 65 years " - these service that once existed at Saint Luke are non existent.
It is the same with " sub-acute " patients - if Saint Luke says No - we cannot find a place at SF General Hospital - nor the other hospitals - even California Pacific Medical Hospital - Saint Francis, Kaiser, Saint Mary's - the Sutter Hospitals who reign supreme - have tons of money - but NO empathy and compassion - for our Elders for sure.
This one single incident - that some are trying to tout - as having found a " nugget " at Laguna Honda - to remedy the situation at hand - is rather a " CANCER".
A CANCER - that has to be removed and the patients brought back to health - but before that the " TRUST of the patients must be won and adhered.
This process is a chronic situation - and msut be addressed on a War Footing.
Of course those focused on mundane issues - SF City Hall - the wheeling and dealing - going on there - the many working there with " no education " - playing politics - politics of the worst kind - more those idiots who belong to the Democratic Party - that has lost respect.
I am watching you all - who talk the talk and have not walked the walked.
The recent summit named " INVINCIBLE " - gathering women - was superficial.
I challenge women to take care of our Elderly - the likes of Mrs Canada - a Black decent woman - over 100 years old.
Mrs Canada - evicted - even as she was despondent and stressed out - who landed in hospital - and died because she was treated with disdain.
Her apartment was invaded by crooks who stole her belongings and took her documents - while those at SF City Hall looked the other way - many know about these facts - but will not speak up - because they have NO conscience.
Mayor London Breed then President of the Board of Supervisors - looking the other way. London talks the talk - but has no walk - she has no walk - because she is NOT educated on issues - she love her junkets, shopping wasting thousands of dollars - materialist.

Mayor London Breed is all fluff and no hope for the future.
Our Elders more women are suffering so much - that we men have to do the " heavy lifting " - while the women are talking about being " Invincible ".
Invincible is just a word - actions count - more when you have ethics, morals, and standards. There is only so much of sordid " pussyfooting " that can be tolerated. Good actions count - fuck those that dance and bark up the wrong tree.
The Heifer need to trim herself - sharpen her comprehension - being educated on issues - the many ribbon cutting, and shout at meeting - like a hooligan - does not help.
Our Elders are suffering - and all women and men must gather in unity - to address our grandmothers and grandfathers - our Elders - women and men who the indigenous respect and honor.
When we fail to HONOR more our ELDERS - we disgrace - those values we must honor and protect.
Laguna Honda - for decades was a place that we revered - no more - this GREED - that some worship - now has creeped close to those who LOVE - our Elders are tortured, cheated, treated with disdain.
Some one has woken up - a bit late - but not too late.
More - to bring JUSTICE in an area - where those that have no morals, less ethics, and for sure no standards - leading that charge Mayor London Breed.
Our Elders must be respected, revered, more in their golden years.
