THE KILLINGS AND SHOOTING MUST STOP
We say - but do we really mean it
These killings and shootings must
S T O P
When was is that we prayed to God
to love everyone as Sisters and Brothers truly?
There was a time when the so called OGs
could gather a few and send a smoke signal
"This nonsense must stop"
And guess what - what they said mattered
More they brought about - peace
Today anything can trigger one dying
Looking at one's girl friend
Just starring at some one
Killing a human being for such things
Comes from the DEVIL
Our children and loved ones
baffled - they cannot comprehend
This madness - a way of living that makes no sense
Some of us try - but leave out God in the mix
Where is the spirituality?
Some of us want to know
Who really brings the weapons
Into our community - to kill and bring about
the worst type of divisiveness
From whence comes this madness - lack of guidance?
We want to know - and we want some justice
Our Law Enforcement - say they are trying
Not once is all the policies - is spirituality mentioned
That is not to say there are NO officers who believe in God
Few pray before they start work
Many do not look at people of color
As children of God - a humans - we must save lives
Our Elders once had the ear
Today few care - the "thugs" do as they please
Killings has become fashionable - earning one's stripes
These "thugs" if they were in the military
Could not even pass - any minimal basic training
In broad daylight - the killed my friend
Charles Williams - some coward shot him without
giving him a chance
These types of cowards - have no place in our community
We all must stand up - and take a stand
Community Policing is what we need
We have several documents in place
We the people - who pay the taxes - are here
We the people matter - more our youth and young adults
Do our City leaders truly care?
In becoming normal - to attend the wakes the repast
More, at the many funerals - people dress their best
Some speeches made - nothing meant
This charade - so many times - repeated
When will this nonsense - come to an end?
Our Mayor Edwin M. Lee has remained silent
His advisers - those whispering sweet nothings
Into his ear - have less sense - less history
Less "cultural competency" - even less compassion
Millions spent in talking and spewing diatribe into the air
The mothers and fathers weep and cry
Family members, good friends, decent folks - galore
Weeks turn to months - months to years
How long can this madness - keep going and going?
We can protest so much - bark up the wrong tree
The solution is spirituality
