Dr. ESPANOLA JACKSON HONORED BY THE CITY AND COUNTY OF SAN FRANCISCO -NUMEROUS OTHER WORTHY INDIVIDUALS - FOR HER ARDENT SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE - HERE IN SAN FRANCISCO AND BEYOND.

Dr. Espanola Jackson
May her soul rest in peace

Dr. Espanola Jackson has transitioned to place where she will rest in peace - free from the trials and tribulations on this Earth.

The pain, the tensions of the time, stress and more -  the many hurdles - that frail human beings - endure - she will rest in peace.

In transitioning she has left a legacy - that thousands know about - and she will be remembered - as a woman warrior - a mentor - an advocate - and most of all as a Mother who loved everyone.

Fortitude reigned in the life of Dr. Espanola Jackson who loved her community - often addressing seasoned and not so seasoned politicians -" baby ".

She loved San Franciscans - even as she loved all of San Francisco.

Many of these politicians and others - at SF City Hall  - openly stated in their humble comments  - that term " baby" - when she addressed them - was not condescending - that they accepted it as a compliment.

More,  an affectionate term - that they treasured and accepted - praising Dr. Espanola Jackson - for her well left legacy and sincere love for all human beings.

Two services will be held for Dr. Espanola Jackson one at Grace Tabernacle Church - on Thursday - February 4, 2016 - located at 1211 Oakdale Street - corner of Ingalls and Oakdale in the Bayview - this Community Service - will be from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

May her soul rest in peace.

A second service will be held on February 5, 2016 - at 12 noon - at Providence Baptist Church - situated at 1601 McKinnon Street off Third Street. This will be her Home Going Service.

More and more as days turn to weeks - weeks turn to months, and months turn to years - we witness - our elders.

Those advocates who spent - 30, 40 50 years - as advocates on the front lines - pass away - most of them - leaving a legacy - that will be remembered for years to come.

It is eye opening to witness - how people - especially sordid politicians talk about advocates - after they have transitioned.

I am a witness to the hundreds of hours - Dr. Espanola Jackson spent - on the front lines.

I accompanied her and often proceed after she spoke - on the many issues - pressing issues of the day - addressing in general - Quality of Life- issues.

As you can imagine my heart is heavy - but, some how I feel she is by my side.

There is a lot of work to do - the advocates today - do not have the patience of the more seasoned advocates - they want instant - results. Time will tell.

On issues linked to  single mothers, food distribution to the poor, our children and their welfare,  all welfare matters in general, environmental issues, health issues, transportation issues - Dr. Espanola Jackson - addressed them with diligence and a heart.

Safety issues, educational issues - in short all issues that matter - Dr. Espanola Jackson was on the front lines - speaking her mind - and astounding those that could not speak from the heart - others, in power who looked at these human issues - in a nonchalant manner.

People in authority - more in Sacramento  - who listened to her pleas - often worked with Dr. Espanola Jackson to make good things happen.

Dr. Espanola Jackson was on the Task Force - linked to the Sewer System Improvement Project. She fought that 5% of the $6 Billion should be set aside for Community Benefits. Some $300 million.

It hurt her to see some San Francisco Public Utilities employees exploit the situation - send over $200, 000 to Green For All - to the East Bay - without proper vetting.

Even today the SF Public Utilities Commission - keeps - faltering, and hoodwinking the public at large.

Many Governors of California, many Mayors of San Francisco, many Senators and Congress person - knew Dr. Espanola Jackson in person.

The proclamations and commendations were many - and even as she is being remembered - now  - having transitioned  in peace - more commendations and proclamations - will honor Dr. Espanola Jackson after her demise.

May she rest in peace.

Frankly, Dr. Espanola Jackson would shed tears - when she found out some child needed help.

Some one was in prison and needed help.

Some mother found it difficult to meet the funeral expenses.

Some one - some stranger she met -  needed some urgent help.

Mother Espanola Jackson as many called her - had a large heart.

She would call me in distress - and order me to do it - do it "baby" for me.

Now, those orders would come - when I was in the midst of some meeting - some ongoing project - not once did I say no.

You just could not say NO - that voice was unique and the passion behind the voice - disarming.

Behind the scene she would pray - and it is this unseen force that would spur me to do the what she requested me to do - and most of the tasks - happened - and happened smoothly.

When I was at the Presidio of San Francisco - she suggested - we have a Black History Month celebration - the date was set aside - but no plan celebration had been in the offing.

" Honey" you can make it happen - I know you can ".

I had three days to make it happen - and it happened - the turn out was excellent and Dr. Espanola Jackson bought her friends - at the event held at the Officer Club - now the Golden Gate Club - at the Presidio of San Francisco - moving from person to person and touching those present.

It was the same with certain things that had to be done with the First People of San Francisco - the Muwekma Ohlone - she was a card carrying member of the Muwekma Ohlone.

Dr. Espanola Jackson had a soft corner for the Native Americans in general - and encouraged me to do my best to help those tribes be they the Miwoks, the Pomos, the Piutes - other local tribes.

Native American  tribes from all over the United States - that have made the Bay Area and the surrounding area their home.

Many of them given a one way ticket to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Oakland - other far off places - a brother sent to one city - a sister to another - the family spilt - and this fact bothered Dr. Espanola Jackson - she deemed it fit to help the Native Americans  and others.

Many folks - from all over the world - who participated in the Shellmound Walks - to honor the ancestors. Together we did what was possible - working with the organizers and trying our best to respect and honor the ancestors.

You would not know that Dr. Espanola Jackson was involved in so many issues - including Clean Solar, career jobs for our youth, being on Boards like the Southeast Community Facility Commission Building at 1800 Oakdale - as founder Board Member.

Matters linked to State University and City College - she personally spent hours on end - speaking up - and making good things happen - on that front - sound education for all.

Dr. Espanola Jackson touched thousands - and they are now - speaking up - and doing what they learned - and representing - honoring their - mentor.

We two were friends - but knowing Dr. Espanola Jackson - she had a mind of her own.

In our discussion - we often had to debate - and she loved a good debate - and never kept a grudge - even if you had to tell her - she was wrong.

If she loved you - she really meant it - and stood by you - through  thick and thin.

She went to battle - and saw to it that - she won - or at least fought so well - that those on the opposite side - had great regard for her tenacity and fortitude - that is what Dr. Espanola Jackson - brought to the table.

We travelled all over - the many meetings to Sacramento and Folsom to shut down the Mirant Power Plant and the Hunters Point Power Plant.

Fought hard to stop the 3 Combustion Turbines - that the SF Public Utilities Commission - wanted placed - closer to the Mirant Plant using fossil fuel.

It would take a lot of writing - this article would run into many pages - to enumerate - the many achievements of Dr. Espanola Jackson - let it be known - she has left a legacy.

May her soul of Dr. Espanola Jackson - rest in peace.

WHO WILL STAND UP AT THE RIGHT TIME - FOR OUR INFANTS, CHILDREN, YOUTH, YOUNG ADULTS, SENIORS - AT GROUND ZERO - DEFENDING - THOSE WITH COMPROMISED HEALTH - IN THE BAYVIEW HUNTERS POINT AND SURROUNDING AREAS - KILLINGS, SHOOTINGS, AND ALL SORTS OF PLOYS AND MACHINATIONS.

Mayor Lee, President Obama and
California Governor Jerry Brown

Things have changed so drastically at ground zero - the "enemy" has divided the community - you speak to the "truth " - and you get static.

If one is not " spiritually very strong " - the forces that be - can bring you down - much like they have so many - decent San Franciscans.

At ground zero the contamination has played havoc on the community - the health of those we must protect - especially the infants, children and youth - adversely impacted - more, in the Bayview Hunters Point area.

Rampant diseases - chronic respiratory diseases, stress from poor sleep and migraine headaches - Barbara Garcia - the head of our San Francisco Health Department knows - about this and more - but - the City and County as a whole - has not address the many issues - in a forth right - manner.

The Southeast Sector of San Francisco - is very well known - complete with empirical data - no one wants to address the contaminants - registered - at very high levels.

Not the Bay Area Air Quality Management District - the Environmental Protection Agency, the Regional Water Board, the Department of Toxic and Substances Control, the City and County of San Francisco - more the City Administrator.

The sell outs and I have mentioned them by name - have destroyed all that was good in the community.

We have entities paid by the City and County of San Francisco - to divide the community.

All sorts of sordid meetings - being held at the Lane Street - YMCA - the YMCA must address the good - and do not have to be involved - in very corrupt - politics.

The community has changed - the demographics have changed - no one is addressing the real issues that have bombarded the community.

Blacks are a minority in the Bayview Hunters Point - the few left - are wondering what is happening - well, many Black sell out - many Black Pastor - chose selling out the community.

The shepherds instead of taking care of the flock - deserted the flock - and now are begging the question.

Hunters Point Naval Shipyard has NOT been transferred to the City and County of San Francisco. It is at Hunters Point - Depleted Uranium was tested. One of the bombs dropped on Japan during World War II - left from Hunters Point Naval Shipyard.

Only one parcel - Parcel A was conveyed to the City and County of San Francisco by the United States Navy.

Who transferred the parcel  quickly - to the former SF Redevelopment Agency - who quickly transferred it to a sordid developer - " Lennar Urban a rogue developer ".

Parcel A is contaminated and the surrounding ares are contaminated. We have proof of contaminated - Class 1 toxic dirt - being moved and deposed of by Lennar Urban.

Much like we have proof of Lennar Urban removing batteries from equipment placed and approved by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District - to capture Asbestos structures. Lennar Urban was fine $515, 000 by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.

Recently we had NBC conduct an investigation report - and report of manifests changed - and Class I - very toxic dirt - sent to our landfills.

The manifests changed to Class II - which is a crime - this has been reported in the Media - but there has been NO - Federal Investigation.

More - to bring justice to the community at large - the Bayview Hunters Point area and surrounding areas.

Such despicable acts - with full proof are not taken seriously by Mayor Edwin M. Lee - who keeps getting advice and support - from lackeys - who do not have the best interests of our City and County of San Francisco.

City Administrator - Naomi Kelly should intervene - and speak her mind.

I met Mayor Edwin M. Lee and found him a changed person - the millions he has taken from the developers - sordid entities like AirB&B, other crooked entities - has totally changed Mayor Edwin M. Lee.

Mayor Edwin M. Lee is a disturbed man - not even a Ignatius Retreat - will bring him to his senses - he needs a  - " a complete brain transplantation ". No kidding!

Again and again no one is making the connection - with all the empirical data - we have at our disposal - from statistics in the Bayview Hunters Point.

The contamination, the pollution, the chronic diseases - in the Bayview Hunters Point of San Francisco -  the lack of proper nutrition - exceedingly high stress levels - has impacted our infants, our children, our youth, and our young adults.

The many so called Wellness Centers, the other clinics that purport to address some of the chronic issues - are addressing the tip of the iceberg.

No one entity is taking into consideration the empirical data - they are not educated nor smart enough to address the consequences of  the adverse impacts - of very hight levels of radioactive elements - registered at the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard - and surrounding areas - Mariners' Village - the area around Cleo Rand bordering the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard.

Over 400 young men have been killed and shot in the last 15 years - in the Bayview Hunter Point area - Potrero Hill - Little Hollywood, Visitation Valley - the Bayview and surrounding area.

Killings and shootings - and no one is really - paying deep attention as to the source of all this mayhem - the divisiveness created - and NO line item funding - to address what I have stated above.

Killing and Shootings have been addressed in a superficial manner - our City and County of San Francisco - should hold a Congressional Hearing - where the victims can address the sad state of affairs - in the Bayview Hunters Point.

At this very late date the San Francisco Board of Supervisors - after hundreds of deaths - and now trying to placate the votes with " Ballot Measures ".

Supervisor Malia Cohen - has been a sell out - getting huge pay backs - from Lennar Urban, Forest City and the Pier 70 project - the Wellness Center placed in a a very contaminated area - by Cargo Street and Third Street.

At this very late date - the Mayor has not said a word - worth the salt on the killing and shooting of four black young adults - all Black in District 5.

Not a word - no apology - 10 months after the incident.

The Mario Woods incident - has riled the advocates and others - who have used - " direct action " - that has frazzled - Mayor Edwin M. Lee - this is not the end of the world - there are some individuals that can handle the situation at hand - outside the realm of the Mayor Office and his lackeys.

The Mayor Edwin M. Lee - cannot handle stressful situations - right now - he is talking from both sides of his mouth - he cannot articulate well.

He cannot think clearly - the Mayor has  failed to comprehend the situations at hand.

Steve Kawa, Christine Flavey, Paul Henderson, Diane Aroche - others - are afraid to speak to the " Truth" - they have put the Mayor on the hot seat - and his ass is being - toasted.

My good friend and fellow advocate is no more - Dr. Espanola Jackson has transitioned to the other side - we all miss her - daily I would talk to her - about the issues - that I am addressing in this article.

Dr. Espanola Jackson requested to meet with Mayor Edwin M. Lee - is ignored her request - telling us - and the world - he does not believe in sound communication - listening to those that know more - those who are at ground zero.

Dr. Espanola Jackson represented the Muwekma Ohlone - as do I - the Mayor Edwin M. Lee - has played - hard to get - the time has come for him to change his ways - and embrace those that have worked harder of this City and County of San Francisco - more because we love San Franciscans and San Francisco.

Time will tell. Right now the Mayor Edwin M. Lee - is facing the most difficult time of his life. We are here to support him - but he has to listen - and more trust - those that change things around.

If anyone has solutions - they are the ones that matter - not the ones that listen and placate - cannot face the "truth" and more cannot find the solutions - with sound goals - and time-lines. Aho.

AMERICAN FOOTBALL IS MOSTLY A - GLADIATOR SPORTS - IT IS NOT PLAYED ALL OVER THE WORLD - IT IS PLAYED MOSTLY IN THE UNITED STATES - CONCUSSIONS AND MORE DIRECT HITS ENCOURAGED - EVEN AS MORE AND MORE STAY AWAY FROM FOOTBALL.

Former Candlestick Stadium
now, torn down - piles of dirt -
the surrounding area - flooded.

If you utter and word Soccer or Football - tennis or hockey - the many other world renowned sports - most people all over the world - would know and have a sense - what you are talking about.

Not so - American Football - a " gladiator sport " - that has RUINED the life on many a decent, hardworking - poor player - who went into the sports - for all the wrong reasons.

Money is not everything - so you may amass millions - and when you retire from such a  sport - each and every day - you suffer the pain - from broken bones.

All sorts health complications - psychological issues - that many families of these " gladiators " - have to endure - seeing and watching their loved one - suffer - before their vary - eyes.

We have had suicides among some famous American Football players - they went in fine to play this " gladiator sport ". One thing lead to another - and many committed - suicide.

Many a player -strong, and with mind that could accommodate all the  many plays to memory.

To win - you must make plays  - that have have to be in sync - to make your way to a touch down.

The many yards the ball is thrown to make the necessary - points - difficult throws caught - and then you have the " hail marks" you take a chance - and if you catch the bowl - it could mean - a victory.

We had Joe Montana - one of the best Quarter Back - and Jerry Rice and Dwight Clark - catching those balls - and making - everything look so easy.

When these American Football players fall prey to the many physical harm - meted out to them.

When they cannot walk - cannot see - cannot enjoy a second of their life - more when they are in their 40s and 50s - misery rules and their life in mostly spent - in excruciating pain.

More daily suffer " issues of the mind and soul ".

Severe - depression and other connected issues - they have expressed to others and some to me.

Books and documentaries have spelt it out - " Gladiator Sports " - today are frowned about - and with very - good reason.

The many football players - who continue daily to endures that  toll that is so  heavy - the many  adverse impacts -  playing - American Football - has harmed these misguided players, more - and less brought - good in the lives and that of their loved - ones.

What bothers these American Football players most - is that they have received little or no support from the National Foot League -  from the billionaire owners of the teams - to help the players - and their love ones cope.

In recent years - the many complaints from concussions and other severe ailments that the football players have endured - have startled some National Foot League members - the ones - that control everything. More the owner - some of them - proud and arrogant.

Now the owners most of whom are billionaires - are listening - listening to the Players' Union - listening to the ardent fans - many of them have learned - first hand- from the players and from having - experience playing amateur American Football.

People in the thousands are now waking up - watching documentaries and moves - there is one playing in the theaters now - with the lead role being played by Will Smith - portraying the issues - linked to - CONCUSSIONS and related - issues.

As I have said - more and more - the players are themselves - not willing to suffer the hardship and endure the long months of endless, pain.

The parents of young American Football players - are lees prone to force their young sons and in many cases young daughters - go into this - "gladiator sport" of sorts.

So, this it the 50th Anniversary - of the Super Bowl - and San Francisco is joining in the celebration.

Never mind that the Super Bowl will be played - at the brand new stadium in Santa Clara - some 50 miles away South from San Francisco.

The many festivities will be celebrated at Santa Clara - and should remain - there - for better, measure.

An NFL City is being created at Justin Herman Plaza - a man after which the Plaza was named used "gentrification" and " eminent domain".

Evil tactics to remove people of color - from their homes that they owned -  and in those days - the mostly Whites that had power - and went with the flow.

Those who were removed - had to stay in filthy hotels and motels - received no compensation. Many middles class - who came here from the South - they mostly died a slow death - caught up with drugs, heavy drinking, prostitution - and all those elements that bring about - slow death.

On that sordid plaza - we now want to celebrate - the 5th Super Bowl festivities - that is how naive - our City and those leading our City - have become. Greed has taken over their lives - and our Mayor Edwin M. Lee - is leading the charge.

The NFL City has blocked streets - in down town Financial District - no parking - the vendors who use to ply their trade - have been shafted - without compensation.

Behind  close doors deals have been made - and the NFL does not want to fork up some few millions - say $10 million to San Francisco - as it has done to Santa Clara - and given them a measly $5 million - compensation.

Who do you think - is behind the wheeling and dealing - if not the person - who twitches his mustache and thinks he is Caligula?

Santa Clara was paid $5 million - a drop in the bucket - and San Francisco could be paid more - it is not fair that the tax payer - already fleeced by the City and County of San Francisco - has to endure financial - hardship.

The poor are shafted - moved from the streets - to live under bushes and bridges.

Others promised a place - at Pier 80 - a large Shed - that once was used the Municipal Transportation Agency.

Now in use to make a mockery of the poor and indigent - who have fallen on very bad times.

Leased to Oracle as part of the World Cup - the Yachting races - that Oracle got the better off - including the lease of this large yard  that comes under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Transportation Agency (MTA).

From January 20, 2016 to February 7, 2016 - the days before the preparation - and the days during the festivities - will inconvenience - decent, hard working San Franciscans.

Yesterday - it took me one and half hours to get from the Bayview to down town  - and we took some streets that we know of - and the traffic was mind boggling.

Back to back - bumper to bumper - cars moving at a snail pace - honking and shouting - and it is not good for health.

The MUNI spokesman - talks from both side his mouth - take Public Transportation - he says.

Avoid the streets - that have been blocked - easily said than done.

Well, I take Public Transportation - and that too moves too slow -  because of the Super Bowl - blocking some key streets -congestion is everywhere - even if you bike.

In fact if you bike - it is deadly - and truly dangerous.

We say - stay in Santa Clara - and do what you folks do well - there.

The hotels in San Francisco may make some money - but more and more the restaurants - do not like the - rowdy crowds - that such venues - attract.

The NFL has inconvenienced thousands - and with millions coming to down - on any given day from January 30th to February 7, 2016 - we can expect - unruly fans - we can expect - anything.

So, who is responsible for this on going mayhem - brought to this great City and County of San Francisco - named after Saint Francis Assisi?

What are we going to do positive and long term to help the poor?

This on going - congestion of the worst order - that is harming all life?

We are continuing to increase the Carbon Footprint while bragging that we are doing something about it? Who is following the Precautionary Principle? Or has the Mayor and his lackeys read the Ordinance?

Who is fooling whom that such an event - commemorating the 50th Super Bowl - is something - that San Francisco should participate - that we really should embrace - such a sordid event?

We are in fact tarnishing the good name of San Francisco - the values our great City stands for.

We, do not even have a decent stadium - where American Football can be played.

Candlestick Stadium is torn down - piles of dirt - heaped 15 feet high - the areas around it - notice - FLOODING - our leaders are so full of it.

I am sure - many fans would like to visit Candlestick Stadium - just to see what is happening over there.

I hope " some quality safety measures " - are put in place - and that those vulnerable - do not lose their lives - fall prey to thugs of the worst order.

I would like to meet the committee - after the "circus " is over - I know the free concerts will be enjoyed by those who love things for free.

These folks - can be well behaved at times - but also - leave a lot of garbage - as they are prone to do.

Homeland Security is now in charge of the Super Bowl festivities - they do not have a good record at our airports.

Now, suddenly they seem - to be handling - a large project - more delicate situation. Time will tell. Aho.

We cannot and should not - let the poor - be used like - " dirty rags " that is my main point.

The rich do not care about anything but themselves - this time around they should  open their hearts and mind - of the care - on one rich millionaire - can buy an ad - the give some attention - to the poor and to those that most deserve help - a roof over their head.

Help the poor - and bring about some change - improve that segment of the population that will bear the brunt of this on going inclement - weather and other hurdles.

Their places of stay - may have been in are around the Financial District - their hideouts - kept them out from harms way - and more from the heavy rains.

Dr. Espanola Jackson

They do not make them
like that anymore
One of a kind leader
Dr. Espanola Jackson
fearlessly - spoke her mind

She worked tirelessly
for needy women
saw that children
were fed - and cared for
she started welfare
programs - with the blessings
of those in high places

At City Hall
she gave history
to those in power
who talked the talked
but could not walk the walk
Fearlessly, she told them
how - and what to do

She was well known
in the Bayview and all
over the City
in the Mission in the early
sixties - she worked with all
Today's leaders in the Mission remember her
as their mentor

Dr. Espanola fought hard
for education
City College and SF State University
the Southeast Community Facility
Commission Building - a founder
She fought for education  -
career jobs - mentoring those
who she saw as potential leaders

Governors, Mayors, politicians
those who purport to wheel and deal
listened to her - her pleas to uplift
those in need and more
she loved all - all San Franciscans
She will be missed - more remembered

She was my very good friend
We took on projects
that most feared to touch
we made it happen - and served
the community as best we could
I will miss my good
friend - Dr. Espanola Jackson

We represented the First People
of San Francisco
the Muwekma Ohlone
We fought hard - and tried our best
today, there is a void
she is by my side - now
more than ever - spurring me on

The issues of gentrification
the many homeless on our streets
the housing and high rents
the killings and shootings
the lack of sound transportation
the clinics and hospitals that
shun the poor - the indigent

All of the above issues
we fought for
at City Hall and in places
where our voice mattered
Dr. Espanola Jackson
left a legacy - a sound one

Gone but not forgotten
Your deeds - are there for
all to see
Actions count  - more than words
a leader, an advocate, a friend
to me - and thousands like me.

Rest in peace
good friend
stay by my side
in this fight for justice
fair play - and compassion
gone yes - here to stay
to carry on - what remains to attain
