HURRICANE HARVEY - ONE OF THE WORST HURRICANES EXPERIENCED IN THE LAST 12 YEARS - CONTINUES TO CREATE HAVOC - POINTING TO CLIMATE CHANGE - ARE WE REALLY PREPARED - NATIONWIDE?

Hurricane Harvey played havoc all night long -

and continues to be a force to be reckoned with -

Climate Change - has created challenges -

Nationwide - are we really - prepared.

Hurricane Harvey has been an eye opener - one of its striking features - it was very wide - 100 of miles long - and as it twirled - and got closer to the eye.  The centrifugal  force - created over 150 miles winds - and with the rain - made the situation -  very, very - dangerous.

The meteorologist, the weather persons, the gurus that purport to know some about these hurricanes - never, ever predicted a powerful hurricane - but in the last 72 hours or so - before Hurricane Harvey - began to develop - the experts knew - that the prevailing conditions - " the perfect storm " - this hurricane had the potential to adverse impact millions - and cause a lot of damage - and it did.

Each Hurricane is different - 

this one just stayed in one place -

with gusty winds over 130 miles -

and very heavy rain - bending many palm trees -

dumping  4" - 6" inches of rain in an hour -

 causing severe floods and damage.

It is a times like this that - we value the information put out there - by those that are trained to address Emergency Services.

Agencies like - the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Corps of Engineers who manage the water ways - and the unique situation we have in New Orleans and other locations - that are below sea level - and have to have water pumped - very huge generators - that recently - had problems and were fixed just in time - before Hurricane Harvey was declared a Hurricane.

Houston which is a " concrete jungle " - where there are serious problems - moving large amounts of water pools.

More - through the drainage systems - that can be tax the system - too much rain in too short a time. Houston will experience severe flooding - that is a given.

Galveston, Texas has its own problems - Corpus Christi was in the news - the eye at first was closest to Corpus Christi - but the Hurricane did not take aim at Corpus Christi.

We still are waiting for - the " search teams " to get back to us - and report casualties one of kind - in this one of a kind hurricane - that created havoc - all night long - and still continues to rain - the winds - have subsided.

Rockport that attracts many tourists - and has been heavily affected by Hurricane Harvey and this Hurricane rated level 4 - has adversely impacted Rockport. 

We hope that no deaths are reported - we are still waiting for the reports to come in.

As of 12 noon Pacific Time - August 26, 2017 no deaths reported from Rockport - the entire area has no electricity. Search teams - will have a report in a couple of hours.

The experts can now - predict these surges - and these predications can save lives.

 There are so many variables - homes, vehicles, facilities, structures, - infrastructure linked to clean drinking, sewage plants, power lines - shelters and other emergency amenities -  so many factors that can impacted by floods - on top of the impending strong winds and rain.

Houston for example could see over 24 inches of rain in a couple of hours.

Texas has some of the largest cities one of them being Houston - millions of people have been adversely impacted - and President Donald Trump - did declare an " Emergency " - before Hurricane Harvey - hit the mainland. 

This one action -  helps those that have address " emergency situations " easier. Time will tell.

An important fact - when Hurricanes strike -

is Electricity  - POWER -

the very strong winds take down power lines -

and with power down - most everything slows down.

At times like this our Nation - has to evaluate our Electrical GRID - and we notice almost instantly - once the power lines go down - most everything has to be evaluated.

It is not about generators - but distribution - of electricity - often times the - singular problem - connectivity - homes far apart make " search operations " - difficult.

Right now over 300, 000 do not have power -  it is these people  - more the fragile - senior citizens - infants, children, youth,  others with compromised health - the physically challenged the mentally challenged - are most vulnerable. 

More so when the " search teams are cognizant " - that many have stayed put - rather than evacuated.

That is their prerogative. This makes " search operations " all the more difficult - and we may - see this more of these incident - people need emergency help - in Rockport.

Our Nation has some well trained " search teams " - much as we are proud of California - who send " search teams with trained dogs and one of a kind equipment  - worldwide ".

It is the same with Texas - and some other States too.

 However, Hurricanes with heavy down pours - always add to the difficulty - and hopefully in a couple of hours -  it is about 10 am Pacific Time here - and I have been following this Hurricane - and admiring the many volunteers - the Army - the Corps of Engineers, FEMA, the Red Cross - all doing their very best.

We can do better - and what really counts - is when people lose everything and have to start from scratch.

Some disasters in the past have taken us years to bring some needed help to the victims - 10 years - 12 years - hopefully the citizens who have suffered linked to Hurricane Harvey - will get some quality succor - as soon as possible.

Victims of Hurricane Sandy - are still waiting and bidding their time - and many have - given up.

I have been involved with Earthquakes and logistics linked to Emergency Services - linked to smaller calamities.

I have never been involved with Hurricanes - have been keenly interested - with logistics and Emergency Services - provided - to those impacted badly - need help - as is in this case with Hurricane Harvey.

Mother Nature has a way to teach us a lesson - even the best prepared person or entity - cannot deal with the " Eye of the Hurricane ".

More when it stays in one place - and continually bombards the area - with heavy rain and gusty wind over 130 miles. 

This one singular factor - in this case - and how the hasty preparation were made -  how those that prepared themselves and face the difficulties - is to be commended.

This storm is moving at only one mile an hour - pounding the area with heavy rain - in places two and three feet - and more rain all these days - projected to Friday to September 1, 2017.

Today is Saturday - August 28, 2017 -

tomorrow Sunday and Monday -

and all thru to Friday.

Hurricane Harvey is predicted to adversely impact large areas.

We pray and hope the innocent do not suffer - more infants, children, youth, seniors, and those with compromise health.

PIER 70 HAS HAD ITS FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT APPROVED - BY THE SF PLANNING COMMISSION - NO CLEAN OBJECTIVE LINKED TO THE OVER 0NE MILLION TONS OF LIQUID COAL - TW0 LARGE AREAS OF AMMONIA SPILLS - THAT HAVE TO BE ABATED, MITIGATED AND CLEANED.

Pier 70 is like a dream -

you wake up - it could be your worst nightmare!

The SF Planning Department approved the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) - to approve a large development in phases at Pier 70.

No clear mission objective - how the abatement will be done - linked to over 1 million tons of liquid coal - other very large contaminated sites.

Add to that  - two very large areas - of ammonia spills - high levels of mercury, lead, and other elements - many, radioactive elements - registered in very high levels.

Pier 70 is a known toxic soup - that the greedy love to bathe in - and more power to those that care less - about health issues - that down the line - will compromise their health and well being.

Those tax payers that are more astute and careful - down the line will  have to pay - for those that are not careful and more greedy.

The Pier 70 is a fairly large area - some 35 acres plus - to be developed in Phases - on very polluted and contaminated ground - prone to liquefaction and flooding. 

Those living in and around Dog Patch are salivating - they want their Pier 70 fantasy land developed - yesterday.

The entire Pier 70 was impacted by the 1989 - 5.9 Earthquake and little mention is made of this singular - fact.

Pier 70 comes under SF Port Authority jurisdiction - part of the 7. 5 mile Piers and Facility on the waterfront - this one further South - that was left unattended and run down - known for many health hazards.

Never mind there is no viable and sustainable Transportation Plan - much as happened with the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard and is happening with  the Candlestick Point projects.

Whites are so greed that they will do anything to build anywhere -even ground that is very contaminated.

They simply want to  make money, greed is in their DNA - Forest City should be ashamed of themselves and Orton Development Inc., - too.

Nefarious entities pushed for the Proposition F - Proposition F that brought about this project. Conceptual plans showing large areas of green turf - with pretty White women bathing in the sun. 
That turf will lie between the PG&E Sub-station and Irish Hill - go figure! Stupid to the core.

White Folks are so funny - their smile will be wiped away - when they learn first hand - how many of them will be exposed to contamination and pollution of the worst kind. 

Just imagine living in the middle of Chernobyl.

The famous Irish Hill - a fine example of 

Serpentine Rock - when crushed releases Asbestos Structures -

next door - the PGE sub-station -

the entire area polluted and contaminated - 

for over 70 years  Pacific Gas and Electricity -

conducted activities that polluted the area.

all daily polluting the land in and around Pier 70.

It is amazing how foolish people get when they are offered housing - no thought about contamination, pollution, and absolutely NO idea about Quality of Life issues. Most importantly putting innocent infants, children, youth and young adults, seniors and those with compromised health - in harms way.

Suffice to say this land was Ohlone land - the First People of San Francisco - that I represent.

 Once pristine - the U. S. Navy - during  the World War II operations - used  Pier 70 -  building ships - and contaminating the area with ammonia spills, lead, mercury, asbestos, all sorts of radioactive elements - and no one is paying attention to this very, very serious - issue.

The Bethlehem Steel had their headquarters and one look at the building - and you can attest that once - those in power - made big bucks - steel was in great demand - for the World War II operations.

Hundreds of ships - small and big ones were built - and with it chrome plating and other operations used - the residue from chrome and other polluting operations - most of it contaminants - dumped all over the place.

The abatement, mitigation, and clean up to residential standards will cost - billions - but as the crooks are prone to do - they will bury the " toxic dirt " and cap it - taking short cuts.

Damn, the health of those that will live on the land - many of them innocent - who wake up only - when they get cancer.

Have tumors - one of a kind - respiratory diseases - that are already registered in the area -  known to the SF Health Department - and its Director Barbara Garcia and Tomas Aragon. 

Plans were afoot some time ago - to dump the over 1 million tons of liquid coal - into the Bay - some voices opposed this move.

There is " no knowing " - when it comes to " greed " - and corrupt folks who will bend backwards to aid and abet the corrupt.

Among them - Mayor Edwin M. Lee, Malia Cohen - and folks like Joe Boss from Potrero Hill and many others who proudly say - they welcome the Pier 70 project.

Irish Hill a small area - and next to it - where now the PGE Sub-station stands - will be cleaned - and it is here - that the famous green turf will be laid - with pretty White women displaying their wares - all the time - their bodies exposed to the worst type of contaminants - Go Figure.

The SF Planning Commission - were all fired up - at the mix- use development - retail space, office space, and of course the much need housing - but for whom?

No one asked the question about the above mentioned issues - except one SF Planning Commissioner - in some general way.

Commission Christine Johnson who works for SPUR - now speaks in low tones - after she was exposed for raising funds for SPUR - charged by the SF Ethics Commission.

Christine Johnson  -  refused to step down - from the SF Planning Commission. She said she would  - if the Mayor Edwin M. Lee who appointed her - personally told her to get her ass off the SF Planning Commission.

The Mayor Edwin M. Lee and Christine Johnson - have favored large developers -  adversely impacting San Franciscans - all these many years.

The above plan - lays a general plan -

some 35 acres plus - of very contaminated land -

more prone to severe liquefaction and flooding -

affected by sea-level rise - Climate Change!

Some 2000 units were planned - but for sure this will not be permitted right now.

 We are still very early into the plans - and there are some entities - want to hear more  empirical data - and less about some fantasy land - plans.

Landmark buildings have been seismically upgraded - some other large warehouse mitigated - windows replace and cleaned - and plans are afoot to use some of these building - but the fact remain the surround land is contaminated and polluted.

Many have no clue where Pier 70 is - it is an industrial area - where the City and County and the SF Port Authority leased space - the famous City Tow - that is no more - had many go to this site - to retrieve their towed cars. An audit cleared showed - corruption of the worst kind - City Tow had to go.

Never mind thousands of innocent people were exposed to contamination and pollution of the worst kind. The City Tow folks - took the cars - and in minutes - the most expensive parts - car radios - anything of value - were ripped off the cars - and the owner had to pay the tow fees - and retrieve their cars.

The Film Industry - has space there - were all sorts of equipment is stored - and props for the " film industry " - some small and other big. All sorts of lights, all sorts of equipment - and few know about this - but now you know.

At one time City and County Employees - would go into the buildings - and steal the equipment left by the U.S. Navy - large lathe machines, generators, welding equipment you name it - City employees - thieving and selling the equipment in the open market.

all on SF Port Authority Property.

In all the talk about development - there is never a word - mentioned about Cultural Issues  - the remains of Ohlone - how when everything was pristine - the abode of the Ohlone - who strived on Abolone, herring, and other fish - wiped out from over fishing and contamination.

Near by some people fish - not paying attention to the signs that say; " Do Not  Fish ". 

Once I was by a newly built park - and a person caught a fish with two heads - from the Bay and came to show us what he had caught. 

I told the the man - who spoke very little English - not to fish - and that most probably eating a lot of the fish from the area - would cause him harm. He listened some - but was intent on fishing - anyway.

No one - even now - thinks about the damage done to the entire area - close by the Municipal Transportation Agency has their Maintenance Workshop.

There are huge warehouse - with large cranes that could lift large ships and all sorts of materials - where all sorts of small industries operated - in very close proximity of Pacific Gas and Electric operation - emitting high levels and creating an Electro Magnetic Field - that has be known to cause cancer and other tumors.

Since 1988 I have been on many committees - to address issue linked to Electricity Local, Regional, and National.

In the early 2000s - we met here in San Francisco on Beale Street,  travelled from San Francisco to Folsom and Sacramento to give testimony - to shut down the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard Power Plant.

 One of the power plants that is now named the Mirant Power Plant - on 3rd Street by Dog Patch Historic District. Addressed a multitude of issues - linked to the environment - to better serve our community at large.

Mitigation led to mitigation benefits - some $18 million - that created the now City and County of San Francisco - Department of the Environment - that does not tap in to the City's General Fund.

Rakes its own money - more from dubious incentives its purports linked to  recycling, clean power like solar, electric cars, energy efficient equipment in homes and offering incentives to businesses -  and other areas - raking in millions - with little or no accountability and less transparency.

We will monitor the Pier 70 Project.

IN SAN FRANCISCO WE PRIDE OURSELVES - PROTECTION OUR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS - WE KNOW OUR RIGHTS - NOT SO MAYOR EDWIN M. LEE AND LONDON BREED - BOTH LACKING CHARACTER - AND LESS ETIQUETTE.

Politicians come dime a dozen - Mayor Edwin M. Lee and Supervisor London Breed - both lack character - and less etiquette. No one respects them - and those that do are - losers.

The group that is meeting at Crissy Field that requested a permit and got it - is a slap on the face of Edwin M. Lee and London Breed - no one who is decent - respects you two - so live with the decision - and let us see - if all the noise you two are making - makes sense in the end.

The National Park Service that comes under the Department of Interior -  follows rules - you cannot deny anyone - any citizen of this Nation - a permit - just because you think - they should not get one - such ploys are common with Mayor Edwin M. Lee - who acts like a dictator.

Sound government does not work like that - the City and County of San Francisco has again and again - been caught with its hand in the cookie jar.

Many Departments in San Francisco do as the please  - the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. Go Figure!

Having said this - is is completely wrong for Mayor Edwin M. Lee to characterize this Prayer Group - as a Supremacists Group. As facts stand - others have intruded their marches and caused harm.

Much as we have noticed in San Francisco and the East Bay - some anarchists - joining our " peaceful marches " -  try to create havoc.

Most of the times - we mange to control the situation - but at times - we have failed.

The one time on a Friday - when they went to SF City Hall - and broke the windows on the front doors -  broke the equipment that helps screen those that come into City Hall - searching for metal and other objects - like knives and so on.

At all times - decent citizens know what are their rights.

All through the history of our Nation - we have had - those that adversely impact others - we do not have to go far to fully - understand the plight of the Native Americans.

Closer to San Francisco the Muwekma  Ohlone - whom I represent.

Blacks who to this day are despised by those we deem to be White Supremacists but also this City and County of San Francisco. 

We understand this - we monitor the situations - and here in San Francisco - we are prepared for such - incidents.

It is totally uncalled for Mayor Edwin M. Lee to think - he is some savior of a kind - that we all have to listen to - when he himself is NOT to be trusted - a wheeler and dealer - and  himself is a Racist of the highest order. 

I can give you umpteen cases - he has tried to intimidate me - for no reason.

Recently tried to send an emissary Mr Lim - to ask for my advice and help.

This man is something else - he wants to use the podium - to fan hatred - and this is wrong - joined by his side-kick London Breed.

Mayor Edwin M. Lee and London Breed - have been backed by forces - that have treated - " people of color with disrespect - preyed on them and made billions of dollars ".

We know who wants to control - Real Estate - we know who wants to control the Main Media - but there is NO way - these scum of the earth - will control our First Amendment Rights.

Where is Scott Wiener, Senator Diane Feinstein, the JDL when it come to the Muwekma Ohlone - the First People of San Francisco - ever heard these folks and entities - support the First People of San Francisco ?

The scum of the earth - who practice hatred - behind close doors - making sordid remarks - racists remarks - one of a kind.

I have heard it first hand -   the statements made by other White Supremacists - calling out that - they will not lose their power to such entities.

That the White Supremacists - feel  that they have been harmed. That was said and done in Charlottesville - Virginia. I does not apply to San Francisco.

I for one DO not agree - nor endorse - with all that went on in Charlottesville - I know what is right and what is wrong.

Let us NOT compare that type of behavior - with NO precautions taken - as I said - for decades the SF Police Department has done well - protecting our citizens.

More - when we all march - because often times - the organizers - will work - not to put our citizens and supporters in harms way.
We have a tack record on this - that Mayor and others - are not fully cognizant of many advocates - who have the best interests of our great City and County of San Francisco.

Some of us do that when protests take place at City Hall.

They can shout and scream - but we will not allow any entity to put our citizens in harms way. Cause damage to City Hall - the SF Sheriff's Department is well aware - of who supports standards and who does not when it comes to behaving well at SF City Hall. 

As I said - San Francisco is different - here we have had many  marches - as San Franciscans - we want to exercise our  First Amendment Rights and right so.

It is a given Racism prevails in San Francisco - in many quarters - this time around two stupid politicians - Edwin M. Lee and London Breed. 

As I have been saying - if Edwin M. Lee wants to take me on - in a debate - on any topic - let us set the day, the date, and time - and make it a reality.

Much like we played ping pong - the Mayor and I - right there by 5th and Powell Street -with Muhammad Nuru - watching me - making some unique - plays.

We have had hundreds of killings and shootings -  in San Francisco - and Mayor Edwin M. Lee has not spoken on this one subject - with authority - that adversely impacts - Quality of Life issues - in San Francisco.  The Mayor - is vague and very Superficial.

When a Blue Panel was created to address the Racism, the killings and shooting, the behavior of the SF Police Department - the Mayor refused to spend on single dollar - to support this panel that went on to created  a great document - most of the attorney firms, the attorneys, the judges - volunteering and committing themselves - to fair play and justice.

We had a hearing at the SF City Hall - and three judges - who headed the Blue Panel Report on the SF Police Department and their many ploys, machinations, and shenanigans - while the Mayor and his so called advisors - did nothing at all.

The three Judges -  all in their own way - chastised - the Mayor, Edwin M. Lee - for not supporting the judges and their work on the Blue Panel created by the District Attorney.

The many other attorneys who volunteered - to address the failed SF Police Department with the many shootings and killings - this Mayor Edwin M. Lee - should be ashamed of himself.  Trying to win brownie points - on far left out field -  events and incident - and failing to do justice in San Francisco.

At one time we had the Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice - nor  more.  Millions of dollars meant for Crime and Violence prevention - are used by the Mayor for his petty programs - we know this to be a fact. Mostly pandering to his lackeys who are wasting - millions.

This body did yeomen's service. 

This Mayor has taken control of the Justice System - and with the support of two inept individuals Paul Henderson and Diane Aroche - has been hoodwinking the City and County of San Francisco.

His Mickey Mouse program IPO is a JOKE - our City demands Career Jobs - our City demands addressing Quality of Life Issues.

The sick in the head - Mayor Edwin Lee.

The Mayor Edwin M. Lee  - has failed on many fronts -  such as congestion, homelessness, an increase in crime - more home break-ins, car break ins, assaults - our infants, children, youth, young adults, seniors - those with compromised health - more our mentally and physically challenged - adversely impacted.

Asthma and other chronic respiratory diseases, tumors of all kinds, heart problems - the increase in other factors like contamination and pollution  -  all this and more - STRESS on all levels - have compromised - Quality of Life issues - in San Francisco.

Crime on our MUNI buses -  thousands living in tents, under our bridges, in cars - anywhere where they find some place to lay their head - more in inclement, weather.

Thousands are so stressed in San Francisco paying very high rents -  Non-Profit evicted - small businesses force to close down and cut their losses - and thousands have left San Francisco - never to come back again.

Just this month of August, 2017 - 20 killings and shootings - have been reported  -  not a whimper from Mayor Edwin M. Lee and London Breed - who is the President of the SF Board of Supervisors that is impotent.

Both Edwin and London are stupid enough to fan hatred - this storm will pass away.

It is a little storm in a tea cup - that has done one good thing - exposed the stupidity of both Edwin M. Lee the loser and London Breed the bragger - let us see who flips the script. 

The Crissy Field episode - serves one purpose - and only one purpose.

It  exposes how shallow, inept, stupid  Edwin Lee and London Breed are - shame on these two - their future will land them in the cesspool - of their own creation - their future is bleak - as bleak as can be.

Their behavior linked to the Crissy Field protest -  clearly revealed lack of discernment, lack of leadership - lack of empirical data - facts. 

The Federal Jurisdiction and the National Park Service did what was right - under their jurisdiction.

Our City and County of San Francisco - has a signed memoranda  - with the National Park Service - the City and County of San Francisco - we can opt out.

Truly speaking - we must  deal with other pertinent and critical issues - where many are dying and others put in harms way - in the hundreds - each and every day - be that - they are poor the indigent - but still - children of God.

The on going stupidity on the part of Mayor Edwin M. Lee and Supervisor London Breed - linked to the Crissy Field episode - begs the question -  both lack character and what is more - have no clue about - etiquette.
